The Boeing Company is looking for multiple AvionX Hardware Engineer
- FPGA/Firmware located in Plano, TX or Hazelwood, MO.
The Boeing Company's AvionX organization is seeking a hardware
engineer with experience in FGPA and Firmware engineering,
specializing in the full development lifecycle of hardware
including requirements analysis, design, build, integration, test,
certification, production. Exceptional candidates will enjoy

Our team is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels
including lead and senior level engineers.
This position will be focused on the organization's current and
future efforts around FPGA Design and Verification Test Efforts. A
successful candidate will need to be able to provide technical
guidance and accountability to the engineering teams and assist
with troubleshooting as needed.
Position Responsibilities:
Leads the firmware development of multiple complex projects while
ensuring the teams adherence to established processes and
standards. Guides project teams during the planning, development
and verification of firmware projects.
Leads the analysis of customer and system requirements and the
development of top-level architectural approaches
Leads development of top level and detailed designs consistent with
requirements and established processes
Leads design and documentation reviews to assure compliance to
requirements and established processes
Identifies, tracks and statuses technical performance to measure
progress and ensure compliance with requirements and established
processes
Develops technical processes and procedures to guide the day to day
work of the technical team
Develops and maintains partnerships with customers, stakeholders,
peers and partners
Conducts various methods of testing and analysis to support
design
Captures data for technical performance measures
Assists with trade studies and literature research to support
future product design verifications
Assists in the specification and development of automated test
stations, test scripting, and specialized test equipment
Reviews complex test procedures for digital hardware
Provides technical understanding and verification of complex FPGA
Design requirements
Use technical knowledge to help influence decisions over multiple
teams and products
Provide technical guidance and accountability to the engineering
teams and assist with troubleshooting as needed
Lead FPGA designs and teams with design and verification engineers,
and manage team execution to meet program milestones
Collaborate with customers, system engineers, and hardware
engineers to drive requirements capture and architect digital logic
functions to meet mission/customer needs
Implement FPGA designs with latest design practices and tools from
block-level microarchitecture, through HDL coding, and physical
design realization
Integrate DSP IP from Boeing's algorithm team and third-party IP as
needed
Perform static timing analysis, LEC, CDC, linting, and other
necessary checks to ensure the design is completed on schedule with
First Time Quality.
Develop Functional Coverage Models and perform Code Coverage to
verify designs in simulation
Create self-checking and reusable test benches from scratch,
applying Object Oriented Programming concepts such as Inheritance
and Polymorphism, and leverage UVM to create drivers, monitors,
predictors, and scoreboards
Drive FPGA-based prototyping and validation depending on program
and system requirements and complexity
Validate design through hardware integration test with special test
equipment, test-beds, and higher-level systems as needed
Train and mentor less senior engineers across the department and
help build effective project teams
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate
will be required to work onsite at one of the listed locations.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security
Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S.
Citizenship.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in
engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing
engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data
science, or computer science
5+ years of experience with development, verification, or
certification compliance of FPGA and embedded firmware
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
10+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination
of education and experience
Experience with digital circuit design
Experience with FPGAs/ASICs
Qualification of DoD electronics products at Level of Rigor 1
Experience building of cross-functional relationships; experience
connecting with and advising senior leaders within the business and
thoughtfully challenging leadership when necessary
Experience leading in a matrixed, complex organization and empower
and motivate large, diverse, cross-functional teams towards
difficult and complex technical challenges
Strong communication skills and ability to work with global teams
and collaborate across geographic locations
Gains others' trust by demonstrating openness and honesty, behaving
consistently, and acting in accordance with moral, ethical,
professional, and organizational guidelines
Typical Education/Experience:
Lead (Level 4):
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical
education from an accredited course of study in engineering,
computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor)
and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an
equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g.
PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work
experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred,
although not required, accreditation standard.
Senior (Level 5):
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical
education from an accredited course of study in engineering,
computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor)
and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an
equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g.
PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work
experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred,
although not required, accreditation standard.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well
as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range for lead: $118,150 - $171,350
Summary pay range for senior: $145,350 - $210,450
