all.Summary:In collaboration with the Senior Director of Infection
Prevention, the Enterprise Infection Prevention Consultant will
develop programs that guide the planning and coordinating of
infection prevention and control activities throughout the
Children's Health Enterprise (including inpatient and ambulatory
areas), leveraging current infection prevention and control science
to provide a safe environment for patients, healthcare workers, and
visitors. The Enterprise IP Consultant facilitates and/or
collaborates with teams throughout CHST to prevent and control
hospital-acquired infections and maintain a constant state of
regulatory readiness in alignment with The Joint Commission
Infection Control standards. Using advanced epidemiological
knowledge, the Enterprise IP consultant serves as a subject matter
expert and consultant on various infection prevention issues,
according to all hospital and legislated
standards.Responsibilities:
- Creates innovative surveillance strategies for the inpatient
and ambulatory settings, including collection, analysis, and
feedback of infectious outcomes in patients, healthcare workers,
and visitors. Using advanced analytics, identifies trends and
patterns in surveillance data, develops or consults on the
development of conclusions and designs appropriate interventions to
improve patient outcomes to various teams and committees.
- Prepares and presents enterprise-level data in a variety of
narrative and visual formats taking the audience into
consideration.
- Maintains understanding of regulatory standards and guidelines
from authoritative agencies including Joint Commission on
Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, the Centers for Medicare
and Medicaid Services, Texas Department of State Health Services,
and Centers for Disease Prevention and Control, and collaborates
with other departments to facilitate compliance with these
standards.
- Develops and consults with education of healthcare workers on
Infection Prevention topics upon hire, annually, and on an
as-needed basis.
- Develops processes for monitoring compliance with established
infection prevention standards through rounding and auditing.
- Consults and serves as the evidence-based practice expert in
the creation and revision of evidence-based hospital-wide Infection
Prevention policies and procedures.
- Consults on construction and renovation projects, and
participates in pre-planning, construction, and pre-occupancy
activities in collaboration with Project Management, Engineering,
and Facilities Services departments.
- Consults and serves as a subject matter expert for recognition
and investigation of clusters and outbreaks of epidemiologically
significant organisms; collaborates and communicates with state and
local health departments in the investigation of diseases with
public health impact.
- Serves and provides insight as an expert resource for
infectious diseases and actively prepares for new and emerging
infectious diseases as well as known high-consequence infectious
diseases.
- Serves on and chairs various internal and external committees,
meetings, and collaborations.
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.WORK
EXPERIENCE* At least 5 years clinical (nursing) experience
required* Incumbent will have at least 2 years of experience
working in infection preventionEDUCATION* BSN requiredLICENSES AND
CERTIFICATIONS* Current license to practice professional nursing in
