Minimum Requirements:

Be mentally and physically fit. Be at least 16 years of age. Prior competitive swimming experience is desired but not required. Have a genuine interest in teaching swimming and all water activities. Have regular and consistent attendance. Report to work promptly. Be dependable, courteous, and neat. Have good communication, public relations and interpersonal skills. Must be a certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI). Must pass a pre-employment drug test and physical exam. Must pass a background check. Position requires flexible availability including mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays. The foregoing statements describe the general purpose and responsibilities assigned to this job and are not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties that may be assigned or skills that may be required.

Responsibilities:

Ensure the safety of class participants. Prepare daily lesson plans. Be friendly, helpful, and cheerful to all pool patrons and fellow employees in the performance of duties. Respect and follow the chain of command. Attend all mandatory in-service training. Maintain an acceptable appearance at all times, with regard to required apparel and personal hygiene. Maintain confidentiality. Maintain regular and consistent attendance. Demonstrate patience and flexibility in changing job demands and when interacting with employees, visitors, and the public. Maintain emotional control under stress.

Functional Job Description:

sitting; standing; walking; walking and standing = 80 to 90% of day; general conditioning. Stair climbing; pushing and pulling up to 60 lbs; Job is related to environmental conditions, including excessive heat.
