Minimum Requirements:

Must be at least 15 years old. Must possess a valid Red Cross lifeguard Training, First Aid, CPR. Shallow water Lifeguarding Certification through the American Red Cross is also acceptable. Must pass ability test given by the city. Position requires availability to work various shifts including, mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.


Supervises pool patrons. Rescues victims and administers lifesaving care. Assists in maintaining a safe and clean facility. Provides customer service assistance to ensure positive public relations, resolves customer concerns, meets customer needs. Follows and enforces appropriate safety and security precautions to safeguard all City assets (human, environmental, and financial). Performs cashier duties as required. Ensures an accurate account of revenues received. Ability to carry out facility EAP's. Respect and follow the "chain of command". Attend all mandatory in-service training. Maintain an acceptable appearance at all times, with regard to required apparel and personal hygiene. Maintain confidentiality. Maintain regular and consistent attendance. Demonstrate patience and flexibility in changing job demands and when interacting with employees, visitors, and the public. Maintain emotional control under stress. Be mentally and physically fit. Performs other duties as assigned. Operates equipment including telephones, pool cleaning, rescue equipment and chemicals.

Functional Job Description:

Must have excellent leadership, organizational and communicative skills, both oral and written. To perform the essential functions of the job, must be able to perform strenuous physical activities to include, running, kneeling, bending, twisting, dragging, pushing, pulling and lifting up to 50 lbs. of various recreational and athletic equipment, to talk, see, hear and read, to work in adverse environmental conditions; and to maintain an effective and pleasant working relationship with citizens, the general public, employees, and the volunteers.
