Membership Recruiter is a community-embedded ambassador who
inspires families to join Girl Scouts and ensures every girl can
access an outstanding troop experience. Rooted in the GSUSA
Community Engagement Model, this role builds meaningful
relationships in assigned geographic communities, identifies
opportunities for membership growth, and converts interest into new
girl and volunteer members. Recruiters bring the Girl Scout value
proposition to life by understanding the needs of families,
reducing barriers, and connecting new members to strong,
sustainable troops. They use data to guide decisions, collaborate
closely with Placement and Volunteer Support, and model an
“Unreasonable Hospitality” mindset to ensure every prospective
family feels seen, welcomed, and supported from their first
interaction. Core purpose of this role: •Grow membership by
recruiting new girl members and new adult volunteers to serve as
troop leaders. •Build strong, culturally connected community
relationships that increase visibility and access for families.
•Launch new troops and fill existing troops, ensuring a seamless
handoff to Placement and Volunteer Support. •Center the family
experience—listening first, removing barriers, and guiding families
through joining. •Represent GSNETX with excellence as the trusted
“GS person” in the community. 1. Community Engagement Visibility
(External Focus) •Build authentic, ongoing relationships with
schools, Pre-K centers, community partners, faith organizations,
youth-serving groups, and civic leaders. •Be an ongoing presence in
the community—attend key events, school activities, round-ups,
family nights, and seasonal opportunities. •Utilize the GSUSA
Community Engagement model to center family needs first, address
barriers, and create personalized Girl Scout entry points.
•Maintain a consistent school liaison network and support liaisons
as valued partners. •Identify and leverage existing community
events—tailgates, fairs, festivals, campus celebrations—to maximize
visibility and recruitment yield. •Ensure GSNETX is represented
accurately, honestly, and in alignment with what families will
experience. 2. Recruitment Conversion (Sales-Focused) •Meet or
exceed goals for new girls and adults in assigned areas. •Plan and
execute targeted, data-driven recruitment strategies for assigned
areas using dashboards, school pipelines, and demographic insights.
•Deliver clear, compelling messaging about Girl Scouts’ benefits,
opportunities, and expectations—including the realities of troop
leadership commitment. •Convert prospective families and volunteers
into registered members through personal contact, events,
presentations, and one-on-one conversations. •Launch new troops
strategically—especially Kinder/1st grade troops aligned with
council growth priorities. •Ensure every girl who wants to join has
a pathway to membership by working closely with Placement and
Volunteer Support. •Manage and follow up on all recruitment leads
with timeliness and consistency. 3. Cross-Functional Collaboration
(Internal Focus) Recruiters serve as the first link in the
membership ecosystem and collaborate deeply with: •Placement – to
quickly, accurately place girls in troops and communicate
openings/gaps. •Volunteer Support – to ensure new troop leaders
receive a strong onboarding foundation, are contacted promptly, and
have early-year support. •Girl Experience – to share opportunities
for prospective families to attend events and strengthen their
commitment early. Recruiters proactively share insights about
community needs, barriers, and trends to inform council strategy.
4. Customer Experience Unreasonable Hospitality •Provide warm,
responsive, proactive customer service to all caregivers,
volunteers, school staff, and community partners. •Communicate with
professionalism and empathy across multiple channels (in person,
phone, email, text). •Create small “moments of delight” for school
partners, families, and volunteers—treat drops, follow-ups,
thank-you gestures, and personalized support. •Ensure every family
feels welcomed, valued, and supported from the moment they express
interest. 5. Administrative Data Responsibilities •Maintain
accurate recruitment activity in Salesforce to track leads,
follow-ups, and outcomes. •Use Looker dashboards and recruitment
reports to prioritize areas, schedule outreach, and adjust strategy
based on performance. •Develop and manage an area-specific
recruitment plan and budget. •Respond promptly to inquiries and
document all recruitment activities. SUCCESS INDICATORS •Girl
membership growth in assigned area (new troop girls & renewals).
•Troop leader and school liaison recruitment and successful troop
launches. •Increased attendance at events for prospective families.
•Strong, consistent community partner relationships and school
engagement. •Timely lead follow-ups, conversions, and accurate
Salesforce documentation. •Effective handoffs to Placement and
Volunteer Support for new troop success. •Demonstrated
collaboration, communication, and problem-solving across
departments. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSAs) Knowledge: •Girl
Scout value proposition and how to communicate it effectively.
•Understanding of community demographics, school systems, and
cultural nuances. •Data literacy—ability to interpret dashboards,
trends, and area insights. Skills: •Exceptional
relationship-building and communication skills. •Influencing and
sales acumen with a service mindset. •Facilitation and presentation
skills (school talks, parent meetings, troop forming events).
•Strong organization, time management, and prioritization.
•Proficiency in Salesforce, Looker, Excel, Outlook, and virtual
meeting software. Abilities: •Navigate schools and community
partners with confidence and adaptability. •Read the room and
connect authentically with families. •Learn quickly, iterate, and
adjust strategy with resilience. •Maintain professionalism and
warmth under pressure. •Collaborate and solve problems

Qualifications Minimum requirements: •2-4 years of experience in
one or more of the following: •Community engagement, outreach, or
partnership development •Membership growth, recruitment, sales, or
customer acquisition •Education, youth-serving nonprofits, or
family-facing services •Relationship-based roles requiring
follow-up, persuasion, and trust-building •Bachelor’s degree
preferred; not required. •Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly
preferred for assigned geographic areas with high Hispanic/Latino
populations •Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within
assigned geographic area •Ability to work evenings and weekends to
support family availability and community events •Comfort using CRM
and data tools (Salesforce, Looker dashboards, Excel, or similar
systems) •Willingness to work in a hybrid, community-embedded role
(schools, events, meetings, office work) •An equivalent combination
of education and relevant experience will be considered.
