Job Description Job Description Description: The Radiology Tech
is responsible for operating the imaging equipment and producing
radiographs according to the standards and practices set forth by
the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. The Radiology
Tech assists the radiologist or physician to perform interventional
procedures. The Radiology Tech demonstrates knowledge of the human
structure and functions, patient care, positioning, principles of
radiographic sciences, radiation protection and specialized
techniques unique to the Interventional Procedures environment;
exercises professional judgment in performance of services and
maintains a demeanor complementary of medical ethics; and
participates in providing patient specific care standards as
directed, and follows service excellence standards to ensure high
levels of patient satisfaction. *This is a part time position
averaging 3 days per week, between 20-24 hours. Detailed

Prepares and positions patients for x-rays and selects exposure
factors accurately • Observes patient during procedure and reports
abnormal activity; monitors protocols and recommends updates or
refinements as warranted • Follows radiation safety procedures and
guidelines • Establishes a clean, orderly, safe and professional
work environment • Prevents patient from being exposed to
unnecessary radiation • Performs patient assessment and
communicates actively with healthcare team • Completes all required
documentation related to patient, procedure, and exam charges •
Adapts imaging methodology using approved modifications and
communication with physician as needed • Reports equipment
malfunctions in a timely manner and actively assists in arranging
repairs following established process • Assists with staff
development, orientation to modality, training and education •
Performs other duties as assigned • Follows the chain of command,
communicating reportable situations to the appropriate personnel in
a timely manner • Maintains confidentiality of management
information, displays discretion and good judgment in communication
methods • Adheres to all approved center policies and procedures;
notifies supervisor of any deviation from approved policy • Assists
in the orientation of new employees to the center • Displays
ability to accept counseling from direct supervisor in a positive
manner • Displays ability to and desire to initiate corrective
action • Becomes familiar with Center’s Fire, Safety, and Disaster
Plan, and his/her role in the event of each • Displays
cost-effectiveness in materials management; assumes responsibility
for timely verification of supplies used in the center
Requirements: Education and Experience/Technical Skills • Certified
Basic BLS Provider specializing in Basic Life Support credentialed
from the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Safety
and Health Institute (ASHI) obtained prior to hire date or job
transfer date. • High School diploma or Equivalent • Graduate of an
educational program in radiology accredited by the Joint Review
Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or
graduate of an American Medical Association approved program in
Radiologic Technology or a military training program of equivalent
standards. • Licensed Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) with
the Texas Medical Board or Certified Medical Radiologic
Technologist (CMRT) with the Texas Department of State Health
Services; registered technologist with the American Registry of
Radiologic Technologists primary certification in Radiography -
ARRT (R). If hired prior to 4/13/2012 and the technologist has been
performing x-rays since 1987 and was grandfathered in by the State
of Texas, only MRT or CMRT license required. • Associate’s degree
is preferred but not required. Physical Demands • Ability to lift
twenty (20) pounds. Moving, lifting or transferring of patients may
involve lifting of up to fifty (50) pounds, as well as assist with
weights of more than one-hundred (100) pounds. • Ability to stand
for extended periods • Fine motor skills • Visual acuity The

vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
